The Astrodome was sometimes called “The 8th wonder of the world, “even though it is not officially. It was built in 1962 for indoor baseball. It was 8 stories high, fit two sets of 5,010 seats and had a 474 foot long scoreboard. It even had an opening roof top. The first game was played on April 12, 1965, astroes V.S Philadelphia Phillis. The fall of 1989, two more levels were added, as well as two more scoreboards, sadly in 1999, it closed because of minute maid park. Today the astrodome remains the shadow of Houston forever, or will it stay that way? People argue about what the government should do with the astrodome. Some say tear it down, some more say turn it in to a parking lot, but very few want it to become a indoor water park, and even less want it to become a party area. I think there not thinking about history but thinking more about the minute maid park were the astros now play. The astrodome now stands today, waiting to see its’s fate, will it become a parking lot, a useless pile of ruble, a indoor water park or a party place for every single person. I say tare it down but, make a monument or a museum describing the astrodome and why it was once special to Houston, Texas.
